Extreme survival milestones require you to spend a certain amount of sols (day/night cycles) on an extreme planet. For some, an extreme planet has either extreme weather or aggressive sentinels, both of which appear as red text in the lower left corner when exiting your ship.

For me and a few other players, لكن, it worked only having both at the same time for the milestone to count. Also note that all milestones are character-sided, so if you have multiple characters you can pick the one that has a higher score to continue onwards.

You can check if the timer is counting under the pause menu, milestones, journey, and extreme survival. Notice that it might not be available in expedition characters, and it also counts on normal mode saves. Since one sol is between 12~15 minutes, if your count didn’t update at least 0.1 sols after three minutes, something is wrong. Let’s clarify the conditions below:

Conditions and explanations

For the milestone to be sure to count, you need to:

• Be on a planet that has both extreme weather and aggressive sentinels;
• Not have died recently, else the counter resets the hidden counter;
• Not being inside a starship, freighter, or exosuit, else the counter pauses;
• Your game must be focused and running without anything on top of it. It can’t be paused, but you can manage inventory, craft, and use steam overlay. It’s OK for the monitor to be idle as long as your computer doesn’t hibernate or pause the game.

It’s important to notice that you can be inside a cave, a building, or even a base and it will work. You don’t need to be exposed to the weather.

If you have died after your current milestone high score, it will internally reset to zero, but won’t show you! For it to display higher values and to progress further, you’ll need to make a better score. Say you died while it was 9 sols, it will begin to increase again after it reaches 9.1 sols.

There are two restrictions related to older versions that aren’t in use anymore. Namely, that you can’t board your ship or exit the planet. Suggested planet and base
