How to make the crusaders fight for you, even if you are not on a crusade?
Cleric becomes Pope
The more experienced your Cleric is and the more powerful your Kingdom is, the more likely he is to become the next Pope.
Choose your Infidel
Pope is now in your pocket, and you can start knocking on everybody’s doors.
There are two basic rules:
- Your opponent is either Pagan or Muslim.
- Preferably it is your neighbor.
Hunter becomes Prey
- Declare war on them.
- Invade their territory with your Marshal without an army.
- To lure them start pillaging their village.
- Once they came close to you, retreat, so there is no fight (yet).
- Make them follow you (keep reasonable distance, since you have no army they will hope for easy win).
- Lure them close to one of your castles (if it is your neighbor, a castle is not far away).
Call for a Crusade
- Once close to the castle, let them attack you.
- While fighting, choose your Marshal’s option: “Call for a crusade”
- Your Marshal will become a Crusader.
- Both you and your opponent stay in the same position, so you will be asked what to do, order: Fight!
While you are fighting your enemy now as a Crusader, order to Retreat. Because your own castle is so close, he will choose to enter the city.
While he is hiding in your castle, you can switch crusader units. Crusader will almost immediately leave the castle, لذا pause the game if you wish.
Simply the Best
Cavalry is the best cavalry unit in the game, better even than Feudal Knights and Cataphracts.
Infantry is the third-best infantry in the game, after Templars and Teutonic Knights.
Crossbowmen are the best-ranged units in the game, having 400 attrition atk and 500 attrition def (defense tied with Longbowmen).
Having six squads of them in the city is the best defense you can ever get.
