This guide for Action Taimanin will explain the game mechanics, what players can anticipate, and provide an early-game walkthrough. Additionally, it includes tips to steer clear of the tricky obstacles the game throws at its players.
Introduction
You’ve made the decision to install Action Taimanin. Whether you’re a dedicated fan of the Taimanins breaking free from their usual plumbing and janitorial duties to engage in combat, or you’re simply drawn to the game’s world, this guide is here to assist you in getting started and understanding the game’s mechanics.
Keep in mind, Action Taimanin isn’t shy about its desire to entice you to spend money within the game.
How Pay to Win is Action Taimanin?
It’s pretty blatant. The game bombards you with deals every time you level up, your characters level up, upon logging in, and of course, the ever-enticing limited gacha tab.
Moreover, there are particularly predatory deals designed to tempt you into spending money, often offered just once. Below, the guide outlines these deals in detail.
You’ll primarily encounter whales (big spenders) on the leaderboards and in the Arena, especially beyond the Gold tier, as these are actual teams they’ve paid to reach that level. Anything below that typically involves facing off against bots.
However, it’s entirely possible to play Action Taimanin as a Free-to-Play (F2P) player. Just brace yourself for plenty of grinding and navigating through time walls.
Is F2P even possible?
It’s definitely possible, but it’s going to be a challenging journey. The game’s monetization revolves around leveling up your characters to make them competitive in various modes like the Arena, Tower, and VR Boss mode.
The game actively tempts you with offers every time you level up your character, typically providing in-game currency (gems) and materials for character ascension. While you can reliably grind for materials up to level 70, beyond that point, the game starts offering materials exclusively available in the Arena, making the proposition more enticing.
This will be further explained in the level-up section of the guide.
However, characters below level 70 can still handle easy and normal content, such as story mode or events, although you should expect them to take a beating in the process.
Getting Started
When you first begin playing Action Taimanin, you’ll have the opportunity to choose which Taimanin you want to start with: Yukikaze, Asagi, or Sakura.
Asagi is the well-rounded choice, equipped with useful time-slowing abilities. Yukikaze specializes in ranged damage, providing consistent firepower, while Sakura prefers summoning allies and engaging in close combat.
Select your preferred Taimanin, knowing that the ones you didn’t choose can be obtained in-game for around 800 gems each.
First steps
After selecting your ninja and completing the basic tutorial, including the inevitable gacha introduction, it’s time to dive into the game.
Your initial stop should be the store, specifically the “Packages” section under “Limited Time.” Here, you can claim free packs that refresh weekly and monthly, so keep an eye out for these.
Next, head to the gacha section and claim the daily freebies available in the “Gold” category.
Now, for some easy free gems, follow these steps:
- Click on the Quest option.
- Proceed to “Manage Account.”
- Look for the option to link your account and set up the link code. Collect your gems once you’ve done this.
It’s crucial to note that if you uninstall the game and reinstall it, the game won’t retain your login information. Hence, it’s recommended to save your login details using the link code and password to prevent losing progress or purchases if you reinstall the game.
Early Game
Now that you’ve acquired your chosen Taimanin and some starting freebies like the 2x SR supporter voucher and the welcome weapon ticket, along with a few initial gems, it’s essential to exercise restraint. Avoid spending these resources immediately.
The opportunity to select SR supporters and weapons is rare, as they are typically obtained through the gacha. Therefore, it’s wise to plan out your choices and build your team strategically. Refer to a reliable guide for assistance in this regard, even if it doesn’t include the newer characters.
Most characters in the game cost around 1200 gems, with some priced at around 1000 gems. Therefore, it’s highly recommended to invest time in story mode to grind for gems until you accumulate 1,200 gems. Once you reach this milestone, refer to the next section of the guide for further instructions.
Your First 1.2k
Now, who should you choose with your initial 1.2k gems? While preferences may vary, there are two standout options: Astaroth or Emily.
Astaroth serves as an exceptional DPS ranger with crowd control abilities. She boasts high damage output, AOE abilities, mobility, and remarkable flexibility. Her basic attacks include high-damage short-range strikes or consistent long-range fireballs, both executed without slowing her down. Astaroth shines in swiftly clearing out entire rooms.
On the other hand, Emily, also a ranger, possesses basic attacks that slow her down. However, she compensates with a healing ability that extends to her allies. Additionally, she has a mode where she consistently fires at enemies. While she may struggle in the early game, Emily transforms into an unstoppable force in the late game once properly geared up and her cooldowns reduced.
Choose your preferred playstyle: Strawberry or Vanilla.
The Daily Grind
Action Taimanin’s daily tasks differ slightly from typical gacha games. Instead of traditional daily quests, you have the welcome and event campaign tasks. Once completed, you’re left with weekly tasks.
Events are significant as they yield valuable resources to enhance your characters, supporters, and weapons. Make sure to prioritize grinding these events.
Afterward, focus on leveling up your characters to tackle hard mode, as well as challenges in the Arena’s Tower and VR mode.
Strength in the game is determined by various factors:
- Character levels (be cautious as this is where predatory monetization often appears)
- Improving character skills
- Equipping, leveling, ascending, and gearing weapons
- Equipping and leveling supporters
- Support formation
- School bonuses
These aspects will be elaborated on in the upcoming sections of the guide.
Leveling Up (and its Dangers)
In Action Taimanin, leveling up your character follows the standard RPG format: defeat enemies to increase your character’s strength. However, what makes this process particularly perilous is the constant nickel-and-diming players encounter along the way.
Each time your character reaches the maximum level for their star rating, you’ll be presented with tempting offers, typically lasting for only three hours. These deals become even more enticing past Level 70, as they start offering endgame materials obtainable only in the Arena.
This predatory approach aims to deter players from burning through one-time deals. Consequently, it’s advisable to focus on leveling up your favorite character, as only one strong character is necessary to conquer hard mode and climb the Battle Arena rankings up to Gold tier.
Leveling Skills
This section delves into the types of abilities available to your character in-game, as well as enhancing overall performance by leveling up attributes such as Health, Defense, Ability Power, Attack Power, Ultimate damage, Cooldowns, and Critical damage.
To level up skills, you’ll need skill points and gold. However, the extent to which you can level up skills is tied to the character’s level.
You can acquire gold and skill points through quests, or gain skill points through the School feature. Additionally, you may notice a fourth skill slot on the screen with a peculiar design, which is tied to a monthly subscription. This slot remains locked without the subscription, although it’s worth noting that beating the game originally only required three skill slots; the addition of a fourth was primarily for monetization purposes.
Weapons
In addition to skills, weapons play a crucial role in boosting your character’s power.
Rarity determines overall strength, especially when leveled up. All weapons except wood quality can be leveled and ascended, with wood-quality weapons primarily used for stardust farming.
Different rarities offer varying benefits:
- UR weapons come with both passive and active effects and feature four slots for magatama to be equipped. Magatama not only boost stats but can also provide additional effects.
- SR weapons provide a passive effect and offer three slots.
- R weapons grant a basic passive effect and feature two slots.
- N weapons offer no bonuses.
Weapons – Magatamas
Magatamas are little slottables that you can get through time attack, the gold gacha, vouchers and the arena tower and VR mode.
The nifty thing about these little guys is that to level them up, you only need to consume other magatamas. As for the materials required to give them effects via “polish”, that requires an item that can only be obtained either through events or the School.
The cost required to polish a magatama increases each time you use it. The effects are randomized. Pic below is an example of another magatama that has all its slots filled out.
Another thing of note is that magatama effects can be re-rolled and it costs 2 shiny beads each time. And once you’ve maxed out your magatama, you can ascend it to the next class.
Which requires a polishing tool that corresponds with the type of magatama you are using.
Supporters!
And so we get to supporters.
Much like weapons, supporters can be leveled and ascended. The rarer it is, the more effects they have.
Also, the more materials required to ascend your supporter. With URs requiring a cube to ascend the same way your character ascends a star level.
But what makes supporters special compared to weapons is that they can be equipped by everyone as well as assist in School activities.
Now, the other thing to know about supports is that they actually level up with affection as well. Affection increases either through assisting a school activity in progress or by being equipped by your character as they do a mission.
And when they’re maxed in affection, you can look at them in collections and get extra gems. There is also a special scene but that only applies to SRs and URs. Rs get none because they aren’t voiced.
Supporter Formation
Supporter Formation
This peculiar menu is accessed either through characters with this button.
Or before any deployment under the character selection.
Now, the only other reason you want to improve supporters is to have them be used in supporter formation.
Supporter formations actually add a general buff for your characters. To have a formation accessible, you need to have the corresponding supporters and have them maxed out in affection to equip said formation. You don’t have to equip that particular combo on your character to get the effect.
The other section corresponds with how many weapons unlocked you have to unlock a slot. Unlocking slots will cost either gold, materials, gems or all three.
And once unlocked, you can slot in any weapons you’re not using to add increased damage to your character(s).
The last section is affection. These are buffs your characters can have if that character has their affection maxed out for you. And as you can tell… I have no love unlocked just yet.
The School Overview
Alright, let’s dive into the main attraction: The School, also known as Gosha Academy. This is where your Taimanins, Robots, Cyborgs, and Demons gather, along with your loyal supporters. The School offers a plethora of benefits: buffs, crafting materials, crafting capabilities, weapon and character enhancements, and skill improvements. Mastering the ins and outs of this place is crucial, especially once you’ve fine-tuned it to your needs.
Now, let’s break down each section within the Academy, explaining how they function and which ones you should focus on upgrading first. The Academy comprises three floors: Gosha Academy, Secret Base B1, and Secret Base B2. Despite their differences, they all share a common feature: upgradability. Enhancing each section demands both money and materials. The number of unlocked slots in each section dictates how many characters you can accommodate at once.
Furthermore, the effectiveness of certain facilities is directly tied to your characters’ levels. For instance, a higher-level ATK buff facility provides a more substantial boost, while a mining facility operated by higher-level characters extracts more materials. Once you initiate the process by slotting in characters, it’s irreversible unless you possess the necessary materials to halt it.
Initially, many facilities are inaccessible, gradually unlocking as you progress through the ranks. Additionally, be prepared for the hefty resource requirements needed to enhance these facilities. This guide will steer you toward which areas to prioritize after completing the tour.
- Floor 1 – Gosha Academy: Contrary to what you might expect, this floor isn’t for enhancing your characters’ stats. Its main function is to provide temporary buffs for your characters.
Floor 2 – Secret Base B1 – Gosha Mines: Welcome to the Gosha Mines! This floor is all about gathering materials, depending on the miner character you slot in. Here’s what each facility offers:
- Kiryu’s Laboratory: Yields Blank Emblems used to craft Emblem Kits, which serve as ascension materials for characters.
- Gear Modification Room: Yields beads for improving magatamas.
- Infirmary: Provides potions for Arena’s VRMode, also known as Boss mode.
- Hot Spring: Grants extra BP and BP restoratives when collected.
- Lounge: Yields AP and AP restoratives.
Floor 3 – Secret Base B2 – Beating Heart of the Base: This section is where you’ll spend a lot of time, as it directly enhances everything. Supporters become crucial here, as they can reduce work time when slotted in. Here’s what each section offers:
- Exchange Facility: A gambling terminal where you can trade in two items (supporters or weapons of a certain rarity) for a chance at something better, though the odds are low.
- Weapon Facility: Allows you to level up weapons over time, saving gold and materials, but once a weapon is slotted in, it cannot be used until the process is complete.
- Crafting Facility: Crucial for crafting materials used for leveling, ascending, and improving, including costumes for characters.
- Skill Training Facility: Enables characters to gain skill points.
- EXP Training Facility: Offers minimal character level improvements compared to missions but can trigger one-time deal prompts when characters reach max level.
- Dispatch Facility: Allows supporters to collect materials; each job requires at least one UR supporter and others can be anyone to start the task. It’s a place for extra supporters to contribute when they’re not busy.
The School – Overview
For the short version, the sections you want to improve are:
Crafting > Weapon > Dispatch > Gear = Kiryu > Mission > Infirmary > Everything else
- Crafting: Crafting is essential for progressing to the endgame by allowing you to create materials. Aim to maximize crafting for optimal benefits.
- Weapons: Upgrading weapons provides free levels, which is advantageous. However, avoid overinvesting to prevent inventory space issues. Aim to upgrade until you have two slots available.
- Dispatch Missions: Dispatch missions offer free materials over time, but they require sacrificing the use of the supporter you send out. Aim for two slots to balance benefits and drawbacks.
- Gear Modification: Modifying gear provides free beads to enhance magatamas. Maximize this feature to avoid running out of beads frequently.
- Kiryu Laboratories: This is crucial for crafting character emblems used for costumes and character ascension. Especially important for reaching the endgame.
- Infirmary: Not a top priority for F2P players but useful for accumulating potions for Arena challenges. Whales should prioritize maxing this feature for more potions to support their favorite characters in VR mode after tough battles.
The Arena – Battle Arena
So we finally come to this. The “Endgame”. Well sort of. The section that is definitely endgame are the Tower and VR Mode aka Taima Five VR.
This is more or less whale territory. Especially the last two.
The first one, Arena, surprisingly isn’t total whale land. And that’s because it comes with four brackets.
Bronze, Silver, Gold and Top Level.
Arena works through autobattling. The first three brackets is bot land. They are leveled accordingly and a character in their 60s with attacks that are erratic and reliable can push through until you reach the top. But once you enter Top Level. Its Whale land. Enjoy watching your characters get destroyed by someone’s bigger bank account.
That said though, the only reason you’d want to grind for Arena coins are to either get yourself a UR weapon with the points or an ascension material.
Also, the prizes you’d get for climbing the Arena at least are somewhat worth it.
The Arena – Tower
This section is about scaling a tower with better and better prizes as you burn through it. Here’s the catch though. The enemies here will destroy you unless your characters are either whale-tier or close to it.
It works the same as X-Dive (before it died) with how it works. You’ll face may different types of enemies each floor.
Moving on.
The Arena – VR Mode / Taima 5 Vr
This mode comes with different bosses that change per week. But the overall power you need to properly clear this needs to be either whale tier or close to it.
However, unlike the other modes, which drops a miniscule amount of coins when getting destroyed, this one drops 50 VR coins. Which if you have enough BP and characters to throw at the mode, you can reliably farm a crystal fragment which is a necessary component to craft an ascension crystal and eventually breach endgame.
General Tips and Conclusions
- Focus on leveling up one character exclusively. By doing so, you can easily conquer the entire game with just one powerful character, like Astaroth, who serves as a prime example. This approach also simplifies the process of leveling up items and supporters, as you’re concentrating your efforts on just one character instead of spreading yourself thin trying to max out everyone. Additionally, it reduces the impact of time-limited deals, such as the 3-hour deals.
- Don’t fret if you find yourself unable to tackle tougher content. Many of these challenges are designed for big spenders, and even then, the game has remained relatively stagnant for four years. The true endgame revolves around conquering the Tower and collecting various outfits. Just enjoy the game for what it is—an opportunity for hentai characters to engage in non-hentai activities, a refreshing change considering their origins.
- Keep in mind that the game is heavily monetized. This is particularly evident when leveling up characters beyond level 40, as the deals become more enticing. The gacha system in this game is particularly predatory, constantly tempting you to spend. It’s akin to being a ninja trapped in a dungeon, but in this case, you have control over the dungeon itself.
- Feel free to exploit loopholes in the system. Since the game is designed to extract money from players, don’t hesitate to find ways to circumvent its mechanisms and use them to your advantage. Don’t let message boxes or enticing banners dictate your actions; instead, carve out your own gaming experience.
As I continue to explore this game, I’ll update this guide with any additional insights I uncover. I hope you find this guide helpful in navigating the game’s challenges and intricacies.
Extra – Stardust farming
Stardust. A requirement for certain items.
An easy way to farm them would be to spend your gold on the gold gacha, get a bunch of N weapons, recycle them, and then try to enchant a N weapon to a high enough level so you can actually fail hard. There’s also the added benefit of getting the material required for enchanting supporters.
Stardust is used for making complete stardust and then enchant chance boosters.
Extra – Send in the clones
Acquiring supporters can be quite challenging. Typically, you need to roll the regular gacha for a chance to obtain one, and the highest-quality supporters often require either good luck or significant financial investment. This becomes particularly challenging when you rely on supporters to gather materials or reduce production timers in your base.
That’s why I recommend refraining from immediately merging duplicate supporters. Instead, consider putting those duplicates to work in your base. This way, you can leverage their abilities to enhance your base operations or expedite resource gathering.
Merge duplicates only when you specifically require that supporter’s ability to be stronger for use by your characters. Otherwise, utilize the duplicates strategically to optimize your base management and gameplay experience.
